Atom's

What atom is it?
You should be able to identify an atom/element on the periodic table
You should know your vocabulary- see quizlet or academic notebook
You should be able to create a Bohr Model given information about your atom
You should be able to be given an element from the periodic table and identify each part
You should be able to explain how all matter is made up of atoms

Carbon Symbol | Flickr - Photo
6- atomic #
12.01- atomic mass (neutrons and protons)
C- symbol for the element
Carbon- name of the element
You should be able to be given the Atomic Number and the Atomic Mass and be able to figure out the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons an atom has.

Ex. (from above)
Carbon
Atomic # = 6
Atomic Mass = 12 ( you always want to use an average)
# of protons = 6  (same as the Atomic #)
# of neutrons = 6 ( Atomic Mass- Atomic #)
# of electrons = 6 (same as protons- for the most part, otherwise we consider them ions, which you will learn next year :))
